It’s the culmination of every dream scenario I’ve had my entire life, I’m sure I’m no different from you in this. As a young boy, playing out football, wrestling or a little later Rugby League then music scenarios, either alone or with friends always ended the same way. The-Crowd-Goes-Wild.
This is the reason, at almost 40 years old, I still do what I do. It’s the reason I lug a great big drum kit around with me. Its not for money, thankfully. Don’t get me wrong, Rockstar money would be nice but it isn’t my motivating factor - for anything I do. Its all about the buzz from the crowd.
I’ve long held the belief that if just 1 person at my gig is dancing then I am doing my ‘job’ well. That person will become my focus and I can go home happy. When the whole room gets it and gets down then there is no greater feeling in the world for me. I’ve played it out hundreds or maybe thousands of times in my mind growing up and am lucky enough to have had it become reality.
We play, we finish. And the crowd go wild. There is no greater feeling.
